The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) have just launched updated versions of the following documents: L74 – Guidance on The Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
You can review the full document above and we have provided an overview of changes below:
One of the major changes is the emphasis that the HSE now place on employers to consider employee’s mental health in their first aid needs assessment.
The HSE state:
It may also be helpful to have people trained to identify and understand mental ill health symptoms who are able to support someone who is experiencing a mental health issue.
You may decide that someone with a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is already able to provide initial support and reassurance to a worker experiencing an acute mental health episode, but you should consider if any further training is required. You should be satisfied that they:
- Know how to access professional help if necessary
- Can act promptly, safely and effectively until that help is available
Consult CPK offer a comprehensive suite of first aid for mental health qualifications that meet this requirement and compliment physical first aid training.
Consult CPK currently offer four first aid for mental health qualifications which are suitable for employees at all levels of an organisation:
- FAA Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health
- FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health
- FAA Level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health
- FAA Level 2 Award in First Aid for Youth Mental Health
Please contact us for further advice, pricing information or to arrange a complimentary no obligation review of your current Health & Safety compliance and requirements.
