Hey everyone! As we head into the cooler months, it’s a great time to review some essential fire safety tips to keep our homes and loved ones safe. Here are a few key points to remember:
1. Check Your Smoke Alarms: Ensure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home, especially near sleeping areas. Test them monthly and replace batteries at least once a year.
2. Create an Escape Plan: Develop a fire escape plan with your family. Practice it regularly so everyone knows how to get out quickly and safely in case of an emergency.

3. Keep Flammable Items Away from Heat Sources: Maintain a safe distance between flammable items (like curtains, furniture, and bedding) and heat sources such as heaters, stoves, and fireplaces.
4. Use Candles Safely: Never leave burning candles unattended. Always extinguish them before leaving the room or going to bed. Consider using flameless candles as a safer alternative.
5. Be Cautious with Electrical Appliances: Avoid overloading electrical outlets and unplug appliances when not in use. Regularly check cords for damage and replace any that are frayed or worn.
6. Have a Fire Blanket and/or Extinguisher Handy: Keep a fire blanket and/or an extinguisher in an easily accessible location and ensure everyone in the household knows how to use it.
Stay safe and take these precautions seriously. A little preparation can go a long way in preventing fires and protecting your home.
