Recent tragic events across Northern Ireland have once again highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic fires and the importance of proactive fire safety measures in every home.
Over the course of just a few days, four lives were lost in separate home fires, each believed to have been caused by accidental ignition. These incidents serve as a stark reminder that everyday situations can escalate rapidly into life-threatening emergencies if preventative measures are not in place.
At Consult CPK, we are urging households, landlords, and organisations to treat home fire safety as an immediate priority.
Recent Fatal Fire Incidents
The following incidents occurred within a short timeframe:
- Sunday 14 December – A mobile home fire in Lisburn claimed the life of a woman in her 90s.
- Saturday 13 December – A house fire in Dunmurry resulted in the death of a woman in her 40s.
- Friday 12 December – Two separate incidents:
– A flat fire in Fortwilliam, where a man in his 20s lost his life.
– A house fire in Bangor, resulting in the death of a woman in her 50s.
So far this year, 15 fatal house fires have occurred in Northern Ireland. Each statistic represents a life lost and a family affected — many of which may have been preventable.
